Zwembad H.
The domain was created around a few lakes in the 1920s. Those lakes had formed in the wells left by excavation work for the construction of the nearby freight railway. In 1937 it was decided to completely redesign the domain and to transfer it to the newly established Ministry of Health.
In 1939 the domain reopened, now with a 750-meter beach with accompanying beach building, a boathouse with a jetty and an outdoor swimming pool with changing rooms and a cafeteria.
For a long time it was one of the largest open air baths in Europe. In 1955 the swimming pool got a treatment plant and a new entrance was built. When the complex no longer met hygiene standards in 1978, 39 years after its opening, it closed its doors. Although the rest of the domain has always remained in use, the swimming complex has faded since its closure. The hard stone board of the bath was almost completely stolen over the years and the buildings suffered heavily from moisture and vandalism.
The swimming pool and surrounding buildings were protected as a monument in 2001.
